Our Ministries

We of the Community Outreach Ministry believe that there are many within our community who may be in need of some support. We also believe that we can make a difference by providing supplemental food to our community. We define our community by need rather than by parish borders. Our founding belief is that if people come for food, they are hungry. We do not pass judgment on their need; we work hard to preserve the dignity of those we assist. We see the face of Christ in all.

Our ministry is dependent upon the generosity of the parishioners of St. Maria Goretti, as well as donations from local businesses and community groups, to fund our food pantry. Our outreach volunteers serve in many different capacities: some shop to stock our pantry; others volunteer time to work the pantry, which is currently open the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Other volunteers write thank you notes; man our 24/7 voicemail system; and chair special projects like our Christmas giving tree, the fall clothing drive, summer book-bag program or basically, whatever needs to be done.

Our group has no officers. Our monthly meeting, on the first Tuesday at 10:00 am in Casa Maria Classroom 2,  is open to all who are interested, and everyone's ideas are welcome. Please come and join us in serving those in need of our support. We can use whatever you have to give!
