We of the
Community Outreach Ministry believe that there are many less
fortunate in community. We believe that we can make a
difference by providing supplemental food to our community.
We define our community by need rather than by parish
borders. Our founding belief is that if people come for
food, they are hungry. We do not pass judgment on their
need; we work hard to preserve the dignity of those we
assist. We see the face of Christ in all. |
Our ministry is dependant on the
generosity of the parishioners of St. Maria Goretti, as well
as donations from local businesses and community groups, to
fund our food pantry. Our outreach volunteers serve in many
different capacities: some shop to stock our pantry; others
volunteer time to work the pantry, which is currently open
twice per month. Other volunteers seek out contributions;
write thank you notes; man our 24/7 voicemail system; make
deliveries to those unable to come to the pantry personally,
prepare Easter baskets for needy children; and chair special
projects like our Christmas giving tree, holiday
adopt-a-family, October clothing drive, assist Catholic
Charities with the gift of warmth program, or basically,
whatever needs to be done.
Our group has no officers. Our monthly meeting is on the
first Tuesday at 6:30 is open to all who are interested, and
everyone's ideas are welcome. Please come and join us in
serving the less fortunate. We can use whatever you have to
give! |
